My latest adventure…

“Into each life, some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.”http://donnadoyon.com/?p=1877&preview=true

Unlike Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, I am not feeling the despair of dark and dreary days… but the line of his poem did strike me as a starting point for this post. Instead, I would phrase it as…

“Into each life, some adventure must come,
Some days must be bright and airy.”

Today’s adventure is not about climbing mountains or setting goals… instead it’s about venturing into the realm of the less logical.

Are you open to less logical perspectives and approaches to living? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

An Active Lifestyle Allows Me to Enjoy Maine Winters

Once upon a time I lived like a bear. When cold weather settled in, so did I.

The only time I went outside was to go from my home to the car to work/store to the car to home.

And I just LOVED the days that it snowed and I’d have to go outside and shovel.

Brrrrr… winter was so not my favorite time of the year!

But, now that I’ve become one of those “active lifestyle” people, I get to enjoy spending time outside in Maine, no matter what the season.

Yesterday, after I finished my coaching calls, I headed off to
Harris Farm
in Dayton, Maine for a bit of time on the cross-country trails.

I watched squirrels scamper around in the snow, listened to birds sing, and followed deer tracks until they bounded off the groomed trail.

And while the couch, a good book, and my favorite television shows will ALWAYS have a place in my life, enjoying the gifts of nature are even more wonderful!

If you’d like to adopt a healthier, more active lifestyle, I would love to help you get started.

5 Tips to Deal with Holiday Stress

Today I went live on my Donna Doyon Facebook page with 5 tips to help you deal with holiday stress. You can watch the video here. In a nutshell, here are the 5 tips:

  1. Watch clips of your favorite holiday movies (especially the funny ones) on YouTube. In the video, I shared a few of my favorites.
  2. Sing your favorite Christmas songs, religious songs, rock songs, country songs, rap songs or any songs! In the video, I sang one of my favorite songs (YIKES!)
  3. Find a spot of sunshine and just hang out in it for a few minutes.
  4. Walk. Five minutes of mall walking, parking lot walking, or around the building walking can do wonders to reduce your stress levels.
  5. Do the dishes. In the video I share how washing dishes puts all your senses to work (and restores order from chaos).

Overindulging… that is something that many of us do over the holiday season.

We forget that Thanksgiving is just one day, and we allow ourselves to feast for four or five days. Yikes! No wonder so many people gain weight these last weeks of the year.

Today I went live on my Donna Doyon Facebook page with 5 tips to keep you from hating yourself on January 1st.
