Ep106: Experience the Power of Non-Negotiables in Your Life and Business

By Donna Doyon | Gratifying Goals , Healthier Habits , Maximizing Mindset , Podcast , Surpassing Self

Making and taking time for the activities and relationships that are most important to you is key to your health and happiness. Too often we let less important activities consume our time or we spend too much time making things perfect when “good enough” will do.

Continuing somewhat with the theme of “healthy boundaries,” this week I share thoughts on identifying activities as “non-negotiable,” to ensure that they get the proper attention that they deserve.

Ep105: The Risks and Benefits of Setting Healthy Boundaries

By Donna Doyon | Blog , Gratifying Goals , Healthier Habits , Maximizing Mindset , Podcast , Surpassing Self

Last week, I talked about what personal boundaries are, why we need them, and how to know when your boundaries are being threatened or violated.

This week, in Part 2, I talk about the risks and benefits of enforcing your personal boundaries. Because let’s face it… there is a price.

If there wasn’t, it wouldn’t be a problem.

So your challenge is deciding which, if any, boundaries you are willing to defend and what you can expect when you do!

Hint: It can be magical! 🙂

From the Boundaries Books website, you can download the 10 Laws of Boundaries for free AND/OR take their free quiz to determine if you have boundary issues.

In January we will be further exploring the topic of boundaries in my membership program Walk with Me.

Ep104: How Healthy Boundaries will Free Your Time, Energy, and Spirit

By Donna Doyon | Healthier Habits , Maximizing Mindset , Podcast , Surpassing Self

A boundary is a dividing line that separates two things.

An example is a property line. You own on what’s on one side of the line, your neighbor owns what is on the other side of that line. It is a clear distinction that allows you both to know who is responsible for what.

Personal boundaries do the same thing. They separate you from everyone else. They allow you to accept responsibility ONLY for the things YOU are responsible for. And they allow you to let other people take care of their own responsibilities.

This is Part 1 of 2 in a series about personal boundaries.

This week, we cover:

  • What they are
  • Why they matter
  • How to recognize when yours are being violated

Next week, Part 2 will cover some potential risks and the benefits associated with enforcing your personal boundaries.

Ep103: How to Check in With Your Daily Routine

By Donna Doyon | Blog , Gratifying Goals , Podcast

The transition from a recovering ugly duckling continues…

This week we look at your daily routine to determine if you are doing things “right” and to see if you can make adjustments to some tasks that will serve your creative and coaching goals more effectively.

Show Notes:

This week’s episode is sponsored by the Healthier Habits for Your Mind, Body, and Business mini-guide. This mini-guide offers simple actions you can take every day to stay in alignment with your core intention of living healthier and happier while growing your business. Get your free copy at donnadoyon.com/habits.

I started the episode by drawing cards from two oracle card decks.

Keepers of the Light Deck by Kyle Gray

Gaia - Keepers of the Light  The Keepers of the Light deck by Kyle Gray is gorgeous!

Gaia reminds us to stay grounded and ensure that our choices are for the highest good. As you begin to pay attention to the tasks and activities that are filling your days, keep Gaia in mind. Keep asking yourself if these activities are for the highest good.

Note: The “highest good” does not mean you sacrifice all to please others. Your highest good matters, too!

Next week we’ll talk about boundaries and how a lack of boundaries does not serve the highest good. Tune in!

Lavish Earth - Selenite and Pearly Ammonite The Lavish Earth card deck by Amy Woodson makes it easy to connect with your favorite crystals. And you don’t have to walk around with a pocket full of rocks! Each card also shares an inspirational quote.

Selenite magnifies and supports the properties of other crystals.  “The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances; if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” ~ Carl Jung

Pearly Ammonite represents pure hope. Everything seems possible. Lift yourself out of the day to day. “Life shrinks or expands in proportion to ones courage.” ~ Anais Nin

For us, these cards mean that it’s time to start believing in what’s possible by taking a step back from what we are currently doing so we can see what REALLY needs to be done. Just because our routines served us in the past, does not mean they will serve us in the future. If you want to make any changes in your life or business, you need to make changes in your daily routine.

Ep102: Mind, Body, and Business

By Donna Doyon | Blog , Learn with Me , Podcast

This podcast’s transition continues as I consider the people I most like to talk with. Hint: It’s people at the beginning stage of something. It might be a fitness program, a life change, a creative endeavor or business.

Today I share 5 reasons why I think they are the coolest people in the world.

Show Notes:

Here are some things I talked about in today’s show:

Ep101: Transitions and Transformations – As I approached the 100th episode of Reflections of a Recovering Ugly Duckling, I started feeling like it was time to make some changes. I decided it was time to leave the past behind me and step into a brighter, bolder future.

Why You Aren’t Taking Action – Amy Porterfield, an online marketing expert, interviewed Brooke Castillo on her podcast about three things that keep us from taking action. This was brilliant!

Ep100: Secrets to Living Happily Ever After – I shared how after writing 90+ Once upon a time & she lived happily ever after stories, I realized that most of the secrets fell into one of five categories. Learn what those categories are and let me know if you agree or disagree OR which secrets I overlooked.

Ep100: Secrets to Living Happily Ever After

By Donna Doyon | Blog , Maximizing Mindset , Podcast , Surpassing Self

In this 100th episode, I split the Secrets to Living Happily Ever After into five key categories.

It was quite enlightening (and a bit surprising) to spot the patterns.

Show Notes:

I did snap a selfie upon completing the episode. Like I said in the episode, I was not camera ready. HA HA

I also noticed when editing the episode (I did cut out some coughing and sneezing), that I pretty much handled the episode as I originally planned it in my mind. I had wanted to do more prep work to tell you how many episodes covered each of the “Happily Ever After” categories I shared.

My modified plan (which I did NOT end up doing) was going to be to read you a few of the “Happily Ever After” secrets and talk about them individually.

Overall, despite the sniffling and coughing, I’m satisfied with this episode. So once again, just showing up (featured in Ep085 and which would fall into the “freedom of choice” and “having courage to be yourself / trusting yourself / believing in yourself” categories) proves to be one secret to living happily ever after.

Ep098: Own Your Inhibitions

By Donna Doyon | Blog , Maximizing Mindset , Podcast

I realized as a 20-year-old airman in the US Air Force that alcohol was an amazingly easy way to become more like the person I wanted to be. I could be fun, funny, and flirty. But I could only be that person when I was drinking. I decided that wasn’t good enough.

Ep097: The Silliest Name in Social Science

By Donna Doyon | Blog , Maximizing Mindset , Podcast

Some people think the Law of Attraction is overly simplistic, unrealistic and that positive visualization is flawed.

This week, I share my discovery of WOOP, a negative visualization practice, that actually fits in with the LOA principles I’ve been practicing in my daily life.
