Moments Matter as Much as Goals

Yikes! Did I actually type “Moments matter as much as goals” in the subject line?

As a self-proclaimed goal setting/goal getting superstar, that is saying a lot!

But yes, I do believe it is true. In this week’s video I share how I stepped away from my computer, and my goal for the afternoon/evening to go for a walk on the beach.

I definitely made the right choice. If you are focused on achieving your goals, I encourage you to be mindful of the “moments” that you may be missing out on if you are too focused on your goals. As the saying goes, “There is a time and a place for everything.” Make time for moments!

Ep027: Give Your Life Story a Title

Imagine writing your life story. What are the most important accomplishments you’ve experienced? What are the challenges you’ve overcome? What have been the high and low points that have made you the person you are today? What title would you give your book?

Next. imagine if someone else wrote about your life?

Now, now… don’t tell me you are boring and there is nothing to say about your life. I know that is not true!

You’ve made an impact in this world. And the reality is, just because something may seem small to you, doesn’t mean it’s small to someone else!

So… back to the question… if someone else were looking at your life, from the outside, what would they write about? What would they call your life story?

In this week’s episode, we explore this topic. Have a listen…

What did you decide? What would the title be on your autobiography? What would someone call your unauthorized biography? 🙂  I’d love to read them in the comments below.

Goal Achieving in Less Than Perfect Conditions

Last weekend, Earl and I hiked a 5.2 mile section of the Appalachian Trail here in Maine, USA. We have been “section hiking” the AT for a few years now. This year we hope to finish the final miles in Maine.

When we made our plans to hike this section, we were hoping the day would be clear and cool. The weather forecast was for rain and clouds.

We had two choices:

  1. Hike
  2. Not hike

Watch today’s video to see what we decided! 🙂

Whatever goals you are working towards, be aware that the conditions may not be perfect, but you can still move forward with your plans.

Ep026: Books Contain the Answers You Need

Anyone who has known me for long, knows I enjoy reading. I enjoy fiction for relaxation and non-fiction for self and business development.

Books were a key part of my relationship with my kids when they were little. They became more important as my children grew into teenagers. I loved seeing my children read and would frequently ask if I could read their books when they were finished.

This accomplished a few things:

  1. It showed them that I was interested in what they were interested in. We’d have great discussions after I finished reading their books.
  2. It taught them both the importance of not spoiling books (or movies) for someone who hasn’t read/seen them yet. 🙂
  3. It opened my eyes to genres and authors that I probably would not have explored on my own.

BOOKS. ARE. AMAZING!

I’d love to know what you are reading these days. Please share your titles and authors in the comments below.

Make your goals scary and exciting!

Anyone can set easy goals. They look like a daily “To Do” list. But the best goals are bigger than that. The best goals are scary!

Think about your goals? Are they cold goals? Are they tepid? Do they stir the fire in your soul so that they threaten to take over your life?

If your goals don’t scare you a little bit, they probably aren’t big enough!

Learn how to stretch your goals and stretch yourself in this week’s video!

So what did you think? Share your big, scary, and exciting goals in the comments section!
